Accordion Films: A Taste of Nate

Director: Jim McGorman | Accordion Films

A Taste of Nate is an endearing portrait of Nate Wiley and the Crowd Pleasers, the house band at Bob and Barbara’s Lounge in Philadelphia.

“An extremely enjoyable primer in the fading art of modern jazz; a form of jazz now almost 60 years old as witnessed by the grand practitioners in this stylish American film.  The graphics are a clever homage to the classic LP sleeve designs of CBS, Verve and Blue Note; the music is a fine reworking of the Jimmy Smith-Dexter Gordon school.  The snappy, dark-suited cool of the early 60’s lives on in Bob and Barbara’s Lounge.” – FourDocs editor

The Philippe Zoummeroff Collection of May 1968 depicts-through startlingly raw and graphical imagery-the explosion of protests that swept across France and nearly toppled the government of Charles de Gaulle.
